UPDATED 22 MINS AGO

SINGAPORE – A dislodged door handle led to a penthouse resident becoming trapped in a windowless bathroom for four days.

Ms Yang, who declined to give her full name, could not call for help as she did not have her mobile phone with her.

The 31-year-old Singaporean drank water from the tap and slept while seated on the toilet bowl during her four-day ordeal.

Yang is not a common surname for a Singaporean. She is a new citizen.

Not common but is a dialect surname for quite a few dialect groups.

The handle wont break suddenly, usually would take some time and was ignored and that happened.

Another important thing about toilet is the door shd open outward, not inward

If you've read the straits times article, it was mentioned she SMS her parents daily before she was trapped in the bathroom.

Another thing I don't understand why close the door if she's staying alone at the penthouse. No one else can see her in her birthday suit.

tomorrow will be a better day

High chance for Taiwanese or PRC. But possible to be Singaporean too as Yang (杨) can be dialect surname for Cantonese from the 四邑 (Siyi) (or 五邑 (Wuyi) nowadays) area (parts of 江门 (Jiangmen), 中山 (Zhongshan) and 珠海 (Zhuhai)).

Yang can be surname for 翁 in Singapore too.

"she had noticed that the door handle felt a little loose, but had not thought much of it."

As I'd said, such damages won't just happen suddenly, but dragged over some time.

The same for the gass shower panels, gotta to do something when you hear some unusual squeaking sound. If you ignore the glass panels would drop and shatter anytime
