Actually the money us not stolen from him but from the bank due to poor security at the bank the hackers just need the debit card number to steal the money from the bank.
Depositors should not be losing their savings due to poor security at the bank.

No OTP...also.
Debit card should never allow non OTP online transactions.
Since OCBC scam incident authorities and banks have done little to improve the system to prevent such scams.
Our regulators should learn from Malaysia how they have implemented compulsory security measures to prevent such fraud and safeguard bank customers.

Ocbc scam is due to foreign Telco being hacked. Hacker received the token sms from foreign network

The fault lies in the banks. There should be OTP sent. Outside, anyone can steal the debit card details. You don't expect people to log in and read their bank accounts daily.

Me only use cash and never hold any credit card.

Nowadays ppl think they are very atas everything also use cards and by the time they discover they are being scammed too late already.

They target debit cards because there is a lot of money inside. Once stolen it is gone. It is harder for banks to stop. This is the latest trend.

The real culprits are Facebook and Google for allowing such ads to be on their pages.
The EU fined them heavily, but our ministers and hojinx played with them everyday, leading more people to these scams.

No wonder my grandmother said putting money under the pillow or inside Tins is safer
With such meagre 0.25% interest rate by DBS/ POSB, might as well
Why do we need 5 Mayors and 80 PAP Ministers?

All these problems started when they got rid of the hardware secure token and implemented many quick transfer mechanisms.
Today even if you don't ask for it when you open account you are given debit card and scammers also gain access through debit card numbers.
How many people had their money taken daily?

Perhaps the bank could detect this kind of anomalies? And I thought the money could be easily retrieved since it is local transactions. Of course if it's remittance then there should be tighter governance.

when the bank/ a bank's lousy security system causes a customer to lose his money,
the bank must be penalised/fined severely and
the customer compensated with the loss and damages for stress etc.
