Singapore is too small and does not warrant PHDs.

My friend got his scholarship and PHD but career to- nowhere.

So, he applied for a job in Germany and they said OK.

But he must pass German language exams.

All completed and passed within 10 mths.

12th mth, he started working there and his salary jumped 3 times.

He has been living there for many years.

Now, has 3 children.

Why do we need 5 Mayors and 80 PAP Ministers?

Even Gan KY's team has a lady from Oxford/ Harvard.

But SG too small and too boring for her.

She resigned and left for overseas to work for Ministry of Health in that country.

She is so happy flying from one hospital to another to do projects.

They paid her so well and she said, she will not come back to Singapore.

Does that  mean that the PHD holder went to Germany to get a job with 3 times more salary than he is getting in Singapore....In Singapore perhaps he would be a taxi driver... crying

The Foreign MNC is in SG but all the positions too kuching kurak. He saw the job ad in Germany and applied via SG office.

His pay was miserable $12k or $15k / mth only.

Germany offered him 3 times more than what SG can offer.

He now works with a team of PHD holders in Germany.

It is such a pity that he needs to go to Germany to get a job, he could very well get a good paying job in Singapore.

I've seen PhDs who are not very good. Wide spectrum in quality.

My cousin completed his PHD here in SG.

His class very small.

Mostly foreigners in his class.

Got one from China very bright lady.

Can ask Professor questions without studying the topic.

Was given PR but she flew to USA upon graduation.

SG does not have the breadth and depth to take in PHD grads.

Singtel, Keppel . . . all nothing to create to make a mark in the world.

We can only hire followers and soldiers.

Why do we need 5 Mayors and 80 PAP Ministers?

Yes, Singapore does not provide a good research environment for PhDs. I'll advise people not to pursue it.

After spending so much money, time and effort to obtain that level of qualification, one is expected to contribute at a higher level to benefit more people. It is sad that such preparation and commitment did not bear the desired fruits!

Some were deceived that PAP can make it

A STAR was like shinning pathway for them

My neighbour has PHD from Switzerland and came back to contribute to our country as a proud local

But A STAR really messed up inside

At the end, their equipments had to be sold off to NUH

And he like many others had to leave

He is now a lecturer in HK
