SMIC vs Hua Hong Semi conductor....comparison shows lower end chips more viable.
#1

While SMIC is trying to push for cutting edge low micron chips it is paying a heavy price trying to catch up with top global foundaries as it has to lengthen the process to create equivalent chips this causes lower yield and hurts its margins.

The best bets in China semiconductor is more matured technology where the industry has already optimised the process and yields.

Hua Hong is a far better investment than SMIC...it has higher  margins and low cap ex.

I'd is very arrogant and prejudice for you to label others lazy when you don't watch what we do all day ...and the work may exceed those with full time job.

Today again we see Hua Hong outperforming SMIC.
Right now there is a semicon upturn globally Chinese players too will benefit fro. This up turn.

Like I said earlier the need for SMIC to stay are the cutting g edge is costly due to US sanctions on the equipment needed...this will hinder its profitability

China being a leader in bullet rtain space and EV...and the economybdoing well are 2 different issues. I have no doubt china will lead EV and bullet trains etc but that does not mean its economy is healthy. Japan throughotsblost decade was the leader in automobile bullet train and high tech manufacturing yet the people suffered limited income growth and the economy as a whole was in a poor state.

China today per capita income is roughly same level as Malaysia. ...Malaysia is expected to move ahead ext few years due to its good demographics and foreign investments.

Up 20% as investors realised that decoupling with US means
SMIC cannot  be allowed to lose in China's push for semi con independence

Rises sharply as all other stocks fall.

SMIC starting out outperform as  theh manage to improve the yield of high end chips and jmprove margins. Given the geo politics ...smic demand can only grow so the upside may be grossly underestimated.

SMIC.....wild swings as China's semicon champion ..grown out of Biden restricted China access to advanced chips

So far between the 2 semi con stocks SMIC outperforms

Despite teh dismal headlines if you dig in the company announcements it is  expanding its 5nm nodes rapidly using older ASML machines and managed to get the yield up. The cost difference with TSMC narrowed to just 20%.

I expect the stock to go up not down despite profit plunge announced yestrrday after market closed

Smic rose 150% since i posted. But is still only 5% the size of TSMC. With mature node manufacting all reshoring back jnto china and higher end chips that TSMC cannot make for China we are looking at eventually 25-30% of the market that has to go back to China.. it is still early days in the larger.scheme of things.

For trading day to day movement...trading activity and sentiment.

For long term company movement, company fundamentals is key.

HS tech is for trading. Individual companies is for investung.

For example as HS Tech hit bottom last year Xiaomi was making new highs.
