The police advise members of the public to adopt the following precautionary measures:
1. Beware of unknown numbers with the “+65” prefix, especially if you are using WhatsApp chats;
2. Beware of property listings on alternative platforms. Verify the legitimacy of a listing by ensuring that the contact number matches the one on the Council for Estate Agencies (CEA)’s website, where details on agencies are listed;
3. Property agents are not authorised to handle cash transactions. Therefore, no payments should be made before a house viewing;
4. Do not transfer money to unknown persons.
======================
I find the above point #2 rather silly. They are fake property agents cheating, not fake agency! CEA website got that thousands of name list of agents, meh??
If property agents cannot handle cash, then which law states so? Can Shanmugam verify? So far, how many agents have been charged in court?
Why do we need 5 Mayors and 80 PAP Ministers?
