Secrets to retiring well
#1

I would like to hear from retirees on how to spend their golden years productively after calling time on their careers. I am several years away from the official retirement age, so would like to know how I can fill the free time on my hands when that day comes.

Is BS Govt claim " elderly wish to work longer if can " More are those CEO or directors in public sectors, stat boards themselves LOL... sit there still collect high pay cheque. Look at Kwah claim retire but back as CEO in SPH , Mah B T I heard also in a Property company in top management as usual collect high pay cheque

The next gen will not wish to work till dead. Next come time so easy to pass by , is feel no much time no enough time.

[28/10, 11:40 pm] Peter Ong:

HK richest man Li Ka Shing is dying but has written a beautiful passage for us on how to die. See the English translation after this passage..

[28/10, 11:40 pm] Peter Ong: Hong Kong's richest man, Li Ka-shing, was seriously ill and did not have much time left. He wrote "Sunset Ballad" in bed. He regretted many things until it was too late. He is 92 years old and has been the richest man for many years. He wrote "Sunset Ballard" to share with everyone:

1. Life is destined to be zero, and it cannot be too square or round. Start from zero and go to zero, let nature take its course and have a calm mind.
2. Don’t think about being rich in your later years, as those who come will be confused and those who leave will be lost. What belongs to you before and after death? You should wake up and stop lying to yourself.
3. If you can be content, you will always be happy and live happily in your old age. Don't be happy when you are rich, don't worry about being poor, let nature take its course and enjoy freedom.
4. Don’t force yourself, don’t fight, life is like a dream or a cloud of smoke. The sky is empty, the earth is empty, and life is confused in it.
5. The sun is also empty, the moon is also empty, and the river is flowing eastward forever. The fields are empty, the houses are empty, and the owners are constantly changing.

6. Love is empty and affection is empty. In the end, they all go up the high chimney. Gold is empty, silver is empty, what kind of handshake will be held after death?
7. Fame is empty, profit is empty, and the dream ends as soon as you close your eyes. Victory is empty, defeat is empty, life is like a dream.
8. Officials are empty, power is empty, and no one sits in the court all his life. Riches are empty, poverty is empty, life is like this and you need to figure it out.
9. Spring goes to summer and autumn comes to winter. The ebb and flow of the tide never ends. It is a good idea to see through the world of mortals. Every family has difficulty reciting sutras, so don’t worry about your worries.
10. Raising children is a duty, and you should enjoy it as much as you can. Children and grandchildren will have their own blessings. Don’t let your children be trapped in a cage. As long as you are in good health in your later years, you will live in happiness.

11. Going west in the morning and east in the evening, people in the world are like bees collecting flowers. For whom is it sweet to collect flowers and make honey? A lifetime of hard work is in vain. See broadly, think clearly, and live a long life without fighting against the world.
12. From a distance, the hospital looks like heaven, saving countless lives; from close up, the hospital looks like a bank, making countless money; when you walk into the hospital, it looks like a prison cell, so it is better to take precautions in advance!
13. Health is an intangible asset, health care is a bank deposit, illness is a loan repayment, and a serious illness will bankrupt your family. Don’t take this as a joke. It will be too late to regret it when it comes true!
14. I would rather stand and take care of myself than lie down and be cheated! If you don’t maintain your health, you will support a doctor; if you don’t maintain your health, you will support a hospital! To love your family, you must love yourself, and loving yourself is the vision!
15. Life is too short, don’t worry about money! A great wealth cannot buy the sun never setting. Even a thousand taels of gold cannot buy good health. Life and death are destiny, wealth is in heaven! Something will occur if it belongs to your life, if not, do not push it! Children and grandchildren will have their own blessings, so don’t be a horse or a cow for your children and grandchildren! Life is too short, so take it lightly! Fame and fortune are nothing but floating clouds; glory and wealth are nothing but a temporary feast. In the blink of an eye, black hair turns to white hair, and all the past events are gone. Why should you keep it in your heart all the time? Why should you always keep trying!

Here are ten secrets of happiness: look away, think openly, be willing, let go, give in, tolerate, understand, give up, be willing, and be kind.

This article written by Li Ka-shing is very good👍👍, it is worth reading [strong], and I want to share the good stuff. I hope you and I can see through it soon. @everyone It’s worth checking out every day! !

Death is the great equalizer of all. No matter how poor or rich you are, how powerful or how insignificant, everything will come to an end.

Wow!  You have quite the set-up at your home, but if I spend hours on end online, then my retirement would be no different from work at the office, except that I will no longer enjoy a "comfortable" monthly salary.

My retiree friends advised me to volunteer with charities, meet friends for meals and outings to places of interest, do window shopping, exercise, swim and play tennis at my condo with my neighbours, take walks with my wife or alone etc. However, I am already doing these activities after office hours. I am afraid that I won't have enough to do everyday to fill 8-9 hours that work used to take up.

Is it advisable for couples to retire together so that they may enjoy the company of their spouses when the travel, exercise, go out for meals, shopping and to run errands? I heard my retired friends say that spending too much time together may actually increase the likelihood of friction.

I agree 100% because the retirement savings may face depletion quickly by doing so.

Hmm, very nice. Sounds like a discourse of the Heart Sutra where it said "Form is emptiness and emptiness is form".      Big Grin
