The purpose of lockdowns is to prevent the spread of Covid.  It is sort of locking up those "hidden and silent Covid spreaders";  hopefully,  these Covid spreaders will either die or get cured naturally or go away.  It does not only affect many people's life and living but is also disruptive,  causing damages to the economy.   It is always done in the past when we do not have a good and scientific method of flushing out these "hidden and silent Covid Spreaders".  

Today,  we have a new method.  Many European countries are trying out ART testing which is very effective and economical.   Singapore also follows sue.  Lockdowns will be things of the past.  Here explains
