"Royal Dutch Shell (RDSa.L) has halved its crude processing capacity at its Singapore hub and reduced fuel exports, executives said on Tuesday, as the major transits from fossil fuels to cut emissions and meet global low-carbon energy needs.
The refinery on Pulau Bukom will continue to produce naphtha for its ethylene unit, Shirley Yap, senior vice president of chemicals and products at Shell Singapore, told reporters."

Production cut in the crude refinery is to cater to major transits from fossil fuels to cut emissions and meet global low-carbon energy needs. As more EVs, PHEVs and Hydrogen Cell vehicals(HVs) will dominate the markets in the future, they will have to cut crude refinery capacity.
Pulau Bukom will continue to produce naphtha and also started testing new chemical feedstocks - pyrolysis oil and bionaphtha - at the cracker, to supply olefins with lower carbon footprint to customers like Japanese chemical maker Asahi Kasei Corp.
Globally, Shell has pledged to halve emissions from its operations by 2030, as well as reduce its net carbon footprint by 45% by 2035.

Presently, there is a trend for crude refineries to shift to chemical base production. Instead of selling fuel oil @ $550 per ton, they will be selling petrochemicals and gets around $1,400 per ton; more than 4 times as much value-added from crude.

I don't think our leaders want to build a nuclear plant in Singapore. They are afraid of a nuclear accident, and being such a small country, we all cannot escape from radiation caused by the nuclear plant........

Solar energy cannot supply enough electricity to power our factories and air-conditioned offices, cos they consumer large amounts of electricity. The next option we have is have a coal-fired, oil-fired, gas-fired, or hydro-electric generating stations...but coal-fired caused much pollution, and we don't have mountains to construct a hydro-electric power station. Therefore, we are left with only two options. One to continue to use oil-fired and gas-fired power stations. Nuclear energy is out, cause as a small country we cannot afford to have a nuclear accident....we have no hinterland to escape to.....

Throughout history when people are fighting, it is because necessity items are not adequate. When necessities are met, who bother to fight? Everything natural and mother Earth need not be abused left and right.
