PM Wong first Cabinet reshuffle in 2024, he said he planned to rotate new 4G ministers & “give them wider exposure experience” since PM Wong Govt was re-elected, a few would be able to step up and take over from senior colleagues in due course, while some of the junior office-holders could take on more responsibilities, he said then.
With number of ministers likely to be about the same – 19 currently – as well as 37 office-holders overall, there are several gaps left by retiring senior figures that will have to be filled. Like of eg: Defence Ministry is been post to Mr Chan formerly from Minister Education, (MOE) since SG need new office-holders, given the retirement of Dr Ng and Mr Heng Chee How, who was senior minister of state. There's likely be a replacement for DPM Heng, who held role of coordinating minister for economic policies until last May. MP Jeffrey Siow being considered for new Cabinet line-up in PM Wong newer team as of now he is act ministry rank

He is going some for his GRC too. Pritam Singh announces Community Grocery Truck at Eunos to help residents with living costs. Singh is helping to do something also for his GRC too.

(05-06-2025, 06:26 PM)Tee tiong huat Wrote: Central Executive Committee (CEC). Significantly, the PAP said it appointed a new chairman, Desmond Lee, also the Education Minister. Other changes include appointment Health Minister Ong Ye Kung as Party Treasurer, and Minister for National Development Chee Hong Tat has taken over as assistant treasurer. The Minister of State for National Development and Trade and Industry Alvin Tan, while, is now head of Young PAP, and Senior Minister of State for Home Affairs Faishal, been appointed chairperson of the PAP Malay Affairs Bureau, will now be part of the CEC. Mr Desmond Lee previously been party’s assistant secretary-general. He replaces former Deputy PM Heng Swee Keat, who retired before year’s General Election.
Commenters react to announcement is that PAP appear to feel that this is a major step up for Mr Lee. “This is a big party promotion for son of Lee Yock Suan. This adds his promotion to Minister for Education, one of the big four portfolios (finance, defence, home affairs, and education).”
Lee Yock Suan, the minister’s father, was a longtime Member of Parliament (MP) & Cabinet member, had served as Minister for Labour & Minister for Education, among other roles. He retired from politics in 2006. Others noted younger Mr Lee’s new role as Education Minister is a significant one as well. “MOE sets the ethos for future generation of the country. It is a heavy responsibility, like defence & finance.
This is why?, all potential leaders of country have picked to helm MOE at some point (in) their political career (e.g., Chan Chun Sing, Heng Swee Keat, Tharman, Ong Ye Kung, Lawrence Wong),” one wrote.
“If go further back, Tony Tan & even Goh Keng Swee were to as education ministers before,” folks pointed out.
S'porean folks say, “This recent GE showed his pull in West Coast, from those who worked with him, he is well regarded, albeit someone more of a quiet technocrat. Though he tends to be understated, his trajectory remains constant & will likely continue to be a presence, especially in 4G-5G & PAP. All more so given his age.” Added Mr Lee reminded us a little of Deputy PM Gan Kim Yong. Speaking of Mr Gan, some Facebook users wondered why he is not in the PAP CEC. “Didn’t see DPM Gan in slate? What happened?” one wrote. Where is the task force man? another echoed

A HUNDRED YEARS OF LIFE
In this year’s National Day Rally speech on Aug 17, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong talked about the implications of a rapidly ageing society. He said that 20 years ago, there were 400 people in Singapore aged 100 or older. Today, there are 1,500.
With 25,200 people over the age of 90 in Singapore today, their numbers are set to grow further.
Data from the Singapore Department of Statistics showed that the number of 95- to 99-year-olds stands at 5,400 today, significantly higher than the 2,900 in 2014.
When asked for details on the oldest Singaporean, both the Department of Statistics and the Immigrations and Checkpoint Authority (ICA) said that they could not provide personal information.
This group of centenarians is what the government refers to as pioneers – those who have seen world wars, race riots and the massive transformation of a fishing village island into a glittering global city.
At 105, Mdm Lin has to be one of the oldest living Singaporeans. She was born here in 1920. Her pink identity card doesn't have a specific date or month on it, unlike most of ours.

Opposition parties in Singapore, after GE2025 losses, are launching new channels to stay relevant and contribute discourse.
PSP launched a Substack newsletter, RDU created AltGovSG to "shadow the government", and SDP announced Roadmap2030.
Analysts note the urgency for outreach, the cost-effectiveness of online platforms, and the need to sustain efforts until the next election.
