To be fair to past S'pore coaches, they simply didn't have the quality players to work with.  Even the best car mechanic in the world wouldn't be able to tune a Hyundai to outrace a Ferrari serviced by an average mechanic.

Best is to scout those s american kids with footballing potentials like echeverri...pay and manage say 30 kids like an agent or father and when it is time, ask them to take up citizenship to play for sg! 

Local talents no hope lah!

I used to watch my sons play when they represented their secondary school and JC.  There were several intelligent footballers - of all races - at that level with great technical skills and tactical nous.  Sadly, none of them played competitive soccer after enlisting in NS.  Today, some of those JC footballers are professionals, managers and executives.
