This feature which is found only in sgtalk, prevents users from smooth scrolling when one opens a thread, 

If one puts a username in the ignore list,  one will usually see a message on the post of an ignored user with a small "show this post" in the right corner as shown in the attached gif.  But the page scrolling will stop at this ignored user's post until one clicks the "show this post" to expand the ignored user's post.  This will also give other users the impression that there are no more other posts in the thread.
