Many companies do not relish the thought of formally terminating staff. A lot of bosses prefer to pressure workers to resign by making conditions unbearable at the office. Employers have creative ways to force older workers to resign or opt for early retirement. These include, but are not limited to making their position redundant, setting unrealistic targets, putting in place unachievable key performance indicators, deliberately giving them poor performance appraisals, demoting and subsequently forcing them to report to junior co-workers, as well as piling them with an unreasonable amount of work. Such victims would not qualify for involuntary unemployment relief.

assuming 100,000 are unemployed.

the cost per year = 100,000 x 6000 x 6  = $ 3600, 000000 or $3.6 billions

when PAP is willing to provide money to unemployed, it means unemployment will be many times worse in the coming years.

$1000 can’t help much.
Cost of living is a killer if the household, father is the sole winner….
It will depend on case by case basic. Not 1 size fit all policy.
If you never kena retrenched before, you would never know the anxiety of unemployment. They are mouths to feed.

MP JoTeo  raised the Retirement and Re- Employment Age based on our mortal age and does not solve any basic issues we face.
