Male Indian Singaporeans had been going to India to look for wives for donkey years.
On the other hand, male ethnic Chinese Singaporeans marrying a Chinese is relatively recent given that it was not too long ago when the Chinese were not allowed to travel out of China, while foreigners were not allowed to enter China.
