Oops, Scythian (old nick was Sukhoi35) works at Optus in Melbourne, he complained about Singtel tax avoidance last year, remember? Did he blow the whistle? Is he still working there? He is very quiet on this news, why like that? Huh

Many big companies like Google are doing this to avoid paying taxes in Australia, Australian Taxation Office has been targeting them for the past few years to force them pay back the taxes plus heavy penalties.

Since 2017, countries around the world signed agreements for tax data sharing.  130 countries and jurisdictions have joined a new two-pillar plan to reform international taxation rules and ensure that multinational enterprises pay a fair share of tax wherever they operate

The Australian Tax Office had notified Singtel of the tax liability as far back as in 2001.

So much for transparencies and good governance.

(2001 - 2016) Shareholders should be compensated.

BHP went to court in 2017-2019 and lost too.

BHP claimed that their HQ paid Singapore corp tax of 2% while paying no tax to ATO for so many years.
