Ukraine to start exporting weapons to help pay for war against Russia. As conflict draws on.., Ukraine has developed alo oft domestic arms, manufacturing, especially in areas like drones. They are exhibited during the Defence Tech Valley summit in Lviv, Wednesday 20 Sep 2025. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Friday Kyiv plans to begin exporting certain types of weapons, such as naval drones, to finance its domestic military production and to bring down production cost.

Drone helped Ukraine destroy Russia’s S-400, $2.5 bil assets eyed by Taiwan,
drone has “supported to destruction a nearly $2.5 billion in Russian assets, including an S-400 air defense system.”
European drone that supported Ukraine in destroying billions of dollars’ worth of Russian military assets, including the advanced S-400 air defense system, could soon be made in Taiwan under a new defense partnership. Portugal too -based Tekever, a leading provider of AI-driven autonomous systems, announced a partnership wi/Taiwan’s Apex Aviation during Taipei Aerospace & Defense Technology Exhibition held from Sept 18 to 20. Central to agreement is the potential local production of Tekever’s AR3 drone, which has been widely deployed in Ukraine. AR3, a medium-sized unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) w/modular payload options including synthetic aperture radar & infrared sensors, logged over 10,000 flight hours in combat ops, according to Tekever.

Scott McClelland, Tekever’s deputy defense director, told Interesting Engineering during exhibition that the drone “supported Ukraine in destruction of nearly $2.5 bill in Russian assets, including S-400 air defense system.”
Model also in service with UK military for electronic warfare missions.

AR3 drone: AR3 drone is designed as a compact fixed-wing system for endurance & flexibility in maritime and land missions, can stay aloft for up to 16 hours, comes w/optional beyond-line-of-sight datalink, making well-suited for extended ops such as intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, _ reconnaissance (ISTAR), border protection, artillery fire correction, & infrastructure monitoring, system is catapult-launched, easy to assemble, & requires minimal logistical support.
Operators can equip drone w/various payloads, including electro-optical & infrared sensors, laser illuminators, & communications relay systems. For added versatility, AR3 is also available as a hot-swappable vertical takeoff/landing (VTOL) variant, which reduces need for ground equipment expands deployment options. The VTOL version includes an integrated synthetic aperture radar payload, allowing operate effectively in poor weather or at night.

In terms of specifications, the fixed-wing AR3 measures 3.5 meters in length and 1.7 meters in width, with a maximum takeoff weight of 23 kilograms (50 pounds) and a payload capacity of 4 kilograms (9 pounds). It cruises around 85 kilometers per hour (53 mph) and can fly up to 16 hours. The VTOL configuration is slightly larger at 3.5 by 1.9 meters, with a maximum takeoff weight of 25 kilograms (55 pounds),
offers same 4-k/gram payload capacity, cruises between 75 - 90 kilometers per hour (47 - 55 mph), delivers endurance of around 8 hours. Manned-unmanned teaming. For Taiwan, Apex said the agreement marks a major step toward building the island’s first manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) framework, pairing Tekever’s drones with Apex’s manned aircraft developed under its Goshawk Project. Goal, company said, is enhance real-time decision-making while reducing risks during gray zone maritime security ops. “By integrating Tekever’s proven UAS expertise and AI-driven platforms with our experience in manned aviation and system integration, we are advancing manned-unmanned teaming and shaping a more resilient defense ecosystem in Taiwan,” said Apex Chairman Wilson Kao. Tekever officials said the partnership is part of a global expansion strategy, with Taiwan viewed as a key market for advanced ISR capabilities.

Karl Brew, head of Tekever’s defense unit, said aims to combine autonomous systems with Apex’s local expertise to build “a stronger, more resilient defense and security industry.” As part of the agreement, Tekever and Apex will coordinate with Taiwan’s Civil Aviation Administration to ensure regulatory compliance and safe drone operations.
Both companies are exploring local technology integration and supply chain development options to strengthen Taiwan’s domestic unmanned systems sector, collaboration comes as Taiwan seeks to boost its defense resilience against potential threats from China, including maritime and aerial incursions.

Exclusive: Italy readies massive transfer of 400 M113 armored carriers to Ukraine.

M113 armored personnel carriers are being prepared for transfer from Italian Army storage sites, reinforcing reports that Rome intends to send hundreds of the Cold War-era vehicles to Ukraine as part of its ongoing military aid.

Rome and Kyiv: Italy intends to transfer a substantial number of legacy M113s to Ukraine, with figures up to 400 vehicles discussed by people familiar with aid packages & vehicles in the highway shot carry usual signs of depot movements, dirt-streaked hulls, missing side skirts on some transport markings, even if are ancient, are still working and efficient on battlefield. Large amount of them is also important: with 400 of them, Ukrainian forces will have better improved capabilities on battlefield.
Designed & make in US & fielded from early 1960s, M113 was built in the tens of thousands, adopted by more than 40 nations. Italy produced operated large fleets, using hull as base for command posts, ambulances, mortar carriers and specialized support variants. A standard troop carrier configuration typically mounts a 12.7 mm heavy machine gun on a ring mount for commander, sometimes with a shield or light turret. Armor is aluminum, not steel, to keeps weight down but requires smart tactics & add-on protection if vehicle is to operate near anti-armor threats. The upside is mobility. With a combat weight around 12 to 13 tons depending on kit, M113 can traverse soft ground & narrow rural tracks that bog down heavier platforms, its powerpack is simple enough for quick swaps in the field.

Italian M113s through years with local modifications. Engines most common variants are diesel, replacing early gasoline models, many got upgraded transmissions, radios to match current standards, troop compartment takes a full squad, typically 11 including crew of two, the whole point of M113s: to bring infantry, dry relatively protected, edge of fight. Roof hatches allow dismounting under partial cover. Italian depots also maintained mortar carrier versions with 81 mm or 120 mm tubes, command post vehicles with map tables add generators, & medical evacuation variants that trade roof armament for litters and medical gear. If even a fraction of the rumored 400 hulls are a mixed batch, Ukraine could spread them across several roles, not only as straight personnel carriers.
For Ukraine, value scale & speed. Kyiv already fields M113s sourced from several partners, like crews, mechanics & logisticians know the platform. Spare parts are interchangeable across many national stocks. They move troops, ammunition & signals gear, they do it in mud, snow, & rutted tree lines where wheeled trucks slow down or expose themselves longer than necessary. With a 12.7 mm gun & optional 7.62 mm coax or pintle weapons, plus smoke dischargers fitted, M113 gives suppressive fire during a dash & helps a unit survive artillery fragments that would shred soft-skinned vehicles. Operators in Ukraine have been seen adding field armor, cages, & even cage-like roof structures to counter small drones. A older tracked carrier becomes relevant again when loitering munitions are roaming overhead, because even modest overhead protection and rapid movement can decide whether a squad reaches its start line intact.

Ukraine’s message to Europe: You are under threat from Russia. We can help.
Russia continues escalating its hybrid warfare tactics in Europe, latest drone incursions into Poland & Estonia represent another bold move that has ratcheted up the temperature. For Ukrainians living through bloodiest land war in Europe since World War II, the message they hope Europe hears is that other countries are under threat, too that closer cooperation w/Ukraine can protect themIn addition to recent flights of Russian drones over NATO territory, Russia is suspected of being behind arson attacks in Poland & Lithuania, as well as sabotage of underwater infrastructure in Baltic Sea & dis-info campaigns across Europe to sow division. "From a legal standpoint under international law, this is not yet a formal state of war between NATO countries & Russia. But it is already a state of hybrid war," said Oleksandr Merezhko, Ukrainian lawmaker & chair of the parliament's foreign affairs committee. “Ukraine must say Russia is waging a hybrid war against Europe."

Today, there is interesting news from the Pokrovsk direction. Here, Ukrainian forces are pressing hard in the Dobropillia sector, carving up Russian lines and closing the gates behind the now isolated groups. With hundreds of Ukrainian drones in the air, a third pocket of Russian forces has formed, larger than the other two combined, and time is running out for the Russian soldiers still trapped inside.
Ukraine’s troops have started advancing southward, pushing the Russians back and retaking key ground in and around Pankivka. This advance was made possible due to the intensive work of Ukrainian drone operators, working around the clock to spot and destroy every movement of the Russians. As a result, Ukrainian ground forces were able to push forward, and the 1st Azov Corps confirmed that Ukrainian units had fully cleared Pankivka. Russia tried to counter this by rushing in four infantry units and a marine regiment, but Ukrainian tactics of striking reinforcements on the move are blunting every effort. Combat footage shows how successful Ukrainian drone strikes hunt down Russian soldiers, as out of 10 soldiers, only one survived long enough to surrender and was taken captive, while the 9 others were already destroyed on the approaches. Further footage shows how a Russian motorcycle assault group was intercepted and destroyed even before reaching the frontline and being able to help. In another, a supply van was struck directly, erupting into a fireball long along with the munitions, weapons, and supplies it was carrying. These tactics, coupled with Russia’s habit of denying surrounded soldiers the permission to withdraw, have now produced a third pocket of trapped Russian troops in the largest encirclement to date, left without supplies or a way out.

This has helped the noose to tighten around the Russian positions, and even though Ukrainian advances have already split the battlefield into separate cauldrons, the latest developments between Razine and Boikivka are making matters worse for the Russian command. This strip of land has become a lethal grey zone: any Russian soldier trying to move through it is immediately spotted and targeted by drones. Ukrainian operators dominate the area, preventing resupply convoys or reinforcements from breaking in and even blocking Russian soldiers from pulling back. Colonel Valentyn Manko, head of Ukraine’s Assault Troops Command, confirmed that Russian forces near Dobropillia have been cut off for three weeks, and there are now three distinct pockets under Ukrainian control. With Ukrainian drones swarming overhead and artillery covering every approach, these Russian formations face the same fate as those in the first northern cauldron that was cleared already.

Amid these developments, President Volodymyr Zelensky made a symbolic visit to the front, as a video from the Pokrovsk–Dobropillia axis showed him meeting soldiers engaged in the counter-offensive, presenting state awards, and receiving briefings from commanding General Oleksandr Syrskyi. Zelensky used the occasion to underline the scale of Ukraine’s progress in the latest counter-offensive operation, in which, despite tough battles, Ukrainian troops have inflicted the enemy with serious losses. Zelensky confirmed that 160 square kilometers have been fully liberated, another 171 square kilometers cleared but not yet consolidated, including 7 freed and 9 cleared settlements. During the battle for the Dobropillia salient, more than 100 Russians were captured, 1,322 killed, and another 1,134 wounded. The presented numbers match the evidence on the ground, where geolocated footage confirms Ukraine’s steady gains, heavy Russian casualties, and dire situation for the Russian armed forces.

Overall, Ukraine’s multi-layer campaign around Pokrovsk is paying off. By combining air strikes, drone warfare, and persistent raids against Russian depots and supply routes, Ukrainian commanders have choked Russia’s ability to sustain its offensives. Ammunition shortages, disrupted logistics, and depleted reserves have left Russian units unable to consolidate and even hold on to their positions. The result is more territory being retaken by Ukraine, and more isolated pockets of Russian soldiers left to die. With three separate groups now encircled around Dobropillia, Ukrainian forces are well placed to continue their tactic of starving them out before moving in for the kill. For Russia, each attempt to reinforce these doomed positions simply feeds more troops into the Ukrainian kill zones. Step by step, the encirclements and steady counterattacks are not only reclaiming land but also dismantling the very offensive the Russian command had hoped would break Pokrovsk.

Step by step, the encirclements and steady counterattacks are not only reclaiming land but also dismantling the very offensive the Russian command had hoped would break Pokrovsk.

Zelensky says he won't seek by push for elections during potential ceasefire.
President Volodymyr Zelensky won't seek a 2nd term in office after Russia's full-scale war ends, he said in an interview with Axios published on Sept. 25. He comments come amid ongoing peace efforts to end war, although Russia refuses to agree to a ceasefire & continues its attacks on Ukraine. "If we finish (the) war with (the) Russians, I'm ready not to go for the 2nd term because it's not my goal — elections," Zelensky said in a released excerpt of the interview. "I wanted very much in a very difficult period of time to be with my country, help my country. My goal is to finish the war.

Two months ago, the president's team faced a backlash after attempting to take away the independence of major anti-corruption institutions — a move that triggered the first street protests since the start of the full-scale war and was seen by critics as yet another attempt to consolidate power. In his recent interviews with U.S. media, Zelensky also didn't rule out the possibility of holding elections in the event of a ceasefire if the security situation allows. When asked whether he would commit to pushing forward to go for elections if Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to a several-month ceasefire, the Ukrainian president answered "yes."

Zelensky told Axios that during his Sept. 23 meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in New York, he said Ukraine could use the ceasefire period to hold elections, and that he could "give this signal to the parliament."

Ukraine's Constitution prohibits elections under martial law, which has been in place since the onset of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine in February 2022. To hold elections, the parliament must first lift the martial law and then set a date for the vote.
Russia has widely used the claim that Zelensky is illegitimate in its propaganda to discredit the Ukrainian govt. The false claim is based on the premise that Zelensky's first term in office was originally meant to end on May 20, 2024. Russia's full-scale invasion & the subsequent declaration of martial law in Ukraine meant elections have been impossible to hold, & his term has been extended, something constitutional lawyers say is allowed under Ukrainian law.
