Singapore marathoner Soh Rui Yong uploaded an open letter to MINDEF onto his Instagram account. This open letter comes after Joseph Schooling failed to make it to the finals in both 100m freestyle and his pet event, 100m butterfly. He wrote,
Quote:“This is the chance for you to score a HUGE PR WIN. Offer Jo the chance to serve NS, while you REVIVE your dying/dead SAFSA program. Use Jo as your poster boy.”
– Soh Rui Yong
SAFSA is SAF Sports Association, it is like a mini national team within SAF. Usually they will take in National players who are serving NS, school players who are playing with various clubs outside before NS, or those with outstanding CCA records.
Soh Rui Yong also wrote out a proposed schedule for Joseph Schooling’s NS, which comprised of swimming, clerical work, and rest. He thinks that this will allow Joseph Schooling to bring in medals at SEA games, Asian Games, and even Commonwealth Games.

I thought Schooling only delay NS to later date....since when he don't need to serve?

only gold medalist for sg in decades. just exempt him from NS as a reward. His trainings already much more tough compared to NS.

Why he didn't qualify for Olympic marathon?
There is no right or wrong decisions.
One only has to bear the consequences that one makes
