Lawrence Wong said in Parliament that all he hears are MPs asking for more and more, but none has spoken about cutting back or even cutting off spending on some things.

Well, that is an easy thing to solve. Here are a list of some things to cut spending on:

1. Ministerial salaries.

2. Abolish the useless and money-wasting Mayor scheme.

3. Cut the $9m paid to the President by at least half.

4. Cut back spending for the People's Association now that covid19 is practically over. ($1 billion every year for the past what, 5 years or more? That's a truckload of money.)

5. Cut back on spending for community development projects. We see so much unnecessary spending on structures which clutters up the environment, and wasteful and needless upgrading of areas which had just been upgraded not too long ago.

6. Suspend funding for SPH Media until it has shown results with regards to editorial independence and standards. A lot of dead wood "editors" who should be let go.

7. Stop raising transport fares every year.

8. Remove spending on Govt Parl Committees, which were supposed to act as the opposition in Parliament. They longer serve that purpose.

9. Cut unnecessary political appts such as Ministers of State, Senior Minister of State, parliamentary Secretaries, Senior Parliamentaey Secretaries.

10. Trim the grassroots organisations - RCs, CCs, CCCs, etc - and have just one. 

11. Cut back on Mindef spending. We are seeing bigger and bigger budgets for Mindef ($17b in 2023), even though there aren't any immediate national security issues. 

12. Trim the number of paper generals we have in Mindef.

13. Ex-generals and ministers will no longer be made directors in GLCs. 

14. Stop spendings on electronic notice boards at HDB lift lobbies. In Sengkang, each lobby has 2 such boards, just 5-7m apart, looping the same govt adverts 24/7/365. A waste of public funds, and electricity.

15. Trim the number of MPs, most of whom are part-timers. It is a joke to have almost 100 MPs for a tiny island like ours, costing taxpayers hundreds of millions each term. 

16. Ban spending on rubbish dumps that cost a million dollars. 

I am sure there are many other things we can cut back on.
