After Mr Lin emailed the restaurant's customer service about the matter, he was told that dishes are calculated based on headcount and that regular portions are normally for two to three diners.
According to Shin Min, a small portion of kai lan costs $22.80 while a medium portion costs $34.20. The price for a large portion is double that of the small portion at $45.60.
The manager further noted that not only is Hong Kong kai lan pricier than the local variety, it is also more complicated to prepare. As such, the dish is generally only available at mid-to-high-end restaurants.

Actually moi do find this dish to be overpriced in many cafe\restaurant. Moi always thought this ish supposed to be low SES cheap dish but quite a few time ordered liao then realize ish si pek exp, those restaurant type order this dish for 4 pes portion not uncommon to tio charge over $40 one.
Even foodcourt one time order this veggie dish from a cheeken rice stall for 1 pes portion nia tio charge 3.80, and the cheekon rice ish 4.50, ie it cost nearly as much as a plate of cheekon rice liao. Really WTF.
There was a time when the country asked ordinary men to do extraordinary things.
But now, they'll only do it for money.

China Kailan is not cheap hor.
I have never heard of HK kailan.
Spring Onion is also expensive hor.
