Almost two weeks of fighting. On Friday, a Turkish military plane on an evacuation mission was shot when it land at an airport outside Khartoum. No-one was injured.

While previous truce allowed thousands of people to attempt to flee to safety, while dozens of countries have tried to evacuate their citizens.

China is the one fusing the conflict with sales of arms to sudan

Various human rights groups, international non-governmental organizations, and religious leaders criticized the Chinese government of selling weapons to the Sudanese military which were being used to commit atrocities in Darfur where as many as 300,000 people have died in a rebellion against the central government.

The army is thought to have full backing of regional powerhouse Egypt - though officially the northern neighbour has remained neutral. While the RSF has United Arab Emirates (UAE), Russia's Wagner mercenary group and other regional militias.

A prolonged conflict

Here many ways this conflict could evolve, none of them good for people of Sudan. vomit

It definitely has all the elements in becoming  prolonged civil war," BBC's is thinking. Thinking

"There has been a lot of agitation from those loyal to the former regime of Omar al-Bashir and his National Congress Party, who hold an Islamist ideology."

Bashir was ousted from power by the army in 2019 after mass street protests. During his 30-year rule, many well-armed ethnic militias emerged. He (Bashir) worked very assiduously to create these divisions between these different ethnic groups,
which then created militias...then and now.

U.S. carries out 1st evacuation of American citizens from Sudan. As Americans fleeing two weeks of deadly fighting in Sudan. They reached the east African nation’s port Saturday in the first U.S.-run evacuation, completing a dangerous land journey under escort of armed drones.

American unmanned aircraft, which have been keeping an eye on overland evacuation routes for days, provided armed overwatch for a bus convoy carrying 200 to 300 Americans over 500 miles or 800 kilometers to Port Sudan, a place of relative safety, U.S. officials said

As battle for Sudan continues, civilian deaths top 400...  Sick

Gunfire and heavy artillery fire persisted over the weekend in parts of Sudan’s capital Khartoum, residents said, despite the extension of a cease-fire between the country’s two top generals, whose battle for power has killed hundreds and sent thousands fleeing for their lives.

With ordinary Sudanese caught in the crossfire, the civilian death toll jumped Saturday to 411 people, according to the Sudan Doctors' Syndicate, which monitors casualties.

Air strikes have pounded Sudan's capital, Khartoum, despite a truce aimed at allowing civilians to flee.

The army said it was attacking the city to flush out its paramilitary rivals, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Fighting intensified even as the warring sides said to extend the truce by another three days.

More than 500 deaths have reported, the true number of casualties believed to be much higher. Millions remain trapped in Khartoum.

Army commander Gen Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and RSF chief Gen Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, better known as Hemedti, are vying for power. A disagree in particular about plans to include RSF into the army.

The generals agreed a humanitarian truce after intensive diplomatic efforts by neighbouring countries,? US, UK and UN. It was extended, but did not hold. However?.

Howeven...The first major aid flight, laden with medical supplies, has arrived in the country. International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) says a plane landed at Port Sudan with eight tonnes of relief supplies, including health kits for hospitals.

"With hostilities still ongoing, ICRC teams will need guarantees of safe passage from the parties to the conflict to deliver this material to medical facilities in locations with active fighting, such as Khartoum," a statement said.

More than 70% of health facilities in the capital have been forced to close as a result of the fighting that erupted on 15 April.

BBC diplomatic correspondent Paul Adams, who is monitoring events from Nairobi in Kenya, says the army will find it difficult to expel the RSF from Khartoum.

For all the army's superior firepower, the RSF are highly mobile and more suited to urban warfare, our correspondent adds... Sick

Military rivals locked in a conflict that erupted in Sudan on April 15 both courted foreign backing in the years leading up to the fighting.

That support could now influence the course of the power struggle between army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the leader of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo commonly known as Hemedti, as well as efforts to stop the violence.

The conflict has brought open warfare to Sudan's capital Khartoum and sparked new unrest in the western region of Darfur, displacing hundreds of thousands of people within Sudan and sending 100,000 fleeing across its borders.

The influence of outside players has loomed over events in Sudan since the overthrow of former leader Omar al-Bashir during a popular uprising four years ago.
