Think they bypassed Taiwan is obviously because of the threats from China.
In the latest discussion about China's economy in 中国人民大学, the Chinese Chief Economist, 陈文玲 said TSMC has planned to set up 6 chip manufacturing plants in the US. Her suggestion was for China to take over Taiwan, take back TSMC and prevent this TSMC's plan from happening.
