Actually it's the Teochews who are shrewd when it comes to doing business. Swatow (Shantou), Guiyang, Chaozhou where the Teochews came from are in Guangdong Province, so would you call them Guangdongnese (Cantonese)?

Peepur assume that all Hong Kongers are from Guangzhou because everybody in Hong Kong speaks 粤语 but it's not true. A huge number of them are Shanghainese who fled from Shanghai when the Red Guards were going on witch hunts. They were the business peepur. The other group which is good at doing business is the Teochews, as mentioned above.

Do you know which dialect group is Li Ka-shing, Choo Chong Ngen?

Cantonese is believed to have originated after the fall of the Han Dynasty in 220AD, when long periods of war caused northern Chinese to flee south, taking their ancient language with them

Mandarin was documented much later in the Yuan Dynasty in 14th century China. It was later popularised across China by the Communist Party after taking power in 1949

Actually Mandarin is a foreign language spoken by nomads in northern China, which mixed with many Mongol, Manchurian and Khitan words. Cantonese originated in central China, it was the original ancient national language in China. DNA tests show Cantonese father side are Han Chinese migrated from central China and mother side are Baiyue tribal people in southern China.

Correct, maybe mixed with some Baiyue words. Their ancestors migrated there during China’s Song dynasty, so Cantonese is likely the national language of Song dynasty, no wonder ancient Chinese poems make more sense when you read them in Cantonese.
