EV is China's chance to leap in and take a big share of the car market. For traditional cars the market share already lock in by Toyota, Honda, Nissan Volkswagon etc etc..China has no chance just look at our roads you never see a single made in China car.
There is only one main player outside China ....Tesla...small ones don't bother as it is all about large scale manufacturing
The rest are all from China so China has a big potential to take a big chunk of car market .
China's strongest player is BYD with full horizontal and vertical integration....it will be first to fight Tesla in Europe for cars after it has already full control of public transport vehicles.
Also no point for China govt to back many small players if it wants to win big.
