Tesla produces a car in 40 seconds, China
#1

CEO Musk once said that it only takes 45 seconds to produce a car, and now this record has been broken again.

According to the latest data released by Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory, it currently takes less than 40 seconds for Tesla to complete the production of a car.

The sales are shooting up. But that's because of the price cuts.

Produce or assemble?

Produce I take it as building from scratch.

The article title is misleading. Produce one car every 40 seconds, not the same meaning as produce one car in 40 seconds.

1 car per 45s, that's the throughput, for measuring efficiency of a system:

T = i/t = 1/(45/12×60×60) = 960 cpd

If another system produces 20 cars in 5 days, that's

T = i/t = 20/5 = 4 cpd
