The US is unhappy about Turkey's relationship with Russia
#1

The US has not yet made any official comment on Rosenberg's trip, but it has repeatedly expressed dissatisfaction with Turkey's "indifference" in sanctions against Russia. In fact, Turkey is keeping a neutral position on the conflict in Ukraine, even though it is a NATO member state.

Against this backdrop, there are reports that the US and EU are considering implementing some "negative measures" for the Turkish economy.

Turkish Deputy Finance Minister Yunus Elitas in August assured Washington that "will not allow any organization or individual to violate Western sanctions".

However, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan still expressed a view to promote increasingly warm diplomatic relations with Russia. The Turkish leader has met his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin all four times in the past four months.
