Last time moi grand aunt every days would wake up very early to cook a big pot of plain soup with only cheekon bones, pork bones, dried shrimp and ikan bilis mixed and all packed into a bag and throw in to boil for hours. Then use the soup as base to cook other dishes and soup. The rice and porridge she cook with this soup as base ish very delicious and have this natural sweetness and also seem to feel more smooth to jiak, last time when dining at her house and having the porridge or rice, even plain with no liao can finished a few bowls straight.
There was a time when the country asked ordinary men to do extraordinary things.
But now, they'll only do it for money.
