The middle class are "sandwiched" in S'pore

S'pore's tax system disproportionately burdens the middle class, favouring the wealthy and powerful. While taxes are high compared to European countries, the benefits received by citizens seem minimal. Indirect taxes, such as those on private residential properties, water and cars, are exorbitant, making everyday living expensive. For example, a COE for a car can cost up to $150,000, and import duties and road taxes add significant costs. Additionally, high petrol taxes and a 9% GST further strain the financial resources of the middle class. This creates a sense of unfairness and resentment among many of true blue citizens.

Everyone of us, whether rich, middle class or poor, are sandwiched between looking after our elderly parents, saving enough for retirement and taking care of our children. It is just that the wealthy have more in their bank to carry out all their obligations.

The rich have low tax as compared to other countries and the poor gets help from the Govt. The sandwich class needs attention from at least Half of PaP Ministers.
