Russia blocked a UN Security Council resolution condemning its military operation in Ukraine and demanding the withdrawal of Russian military forces from the country.

Voting took place on Friday evening.

"For" the proposal of the United States voted 11 members of the Security Council - the United States, Albania, Great Britain, France, Ireland, Norway, Gabon, Mexico, Brazil, Ghana and Kenya;
three abstained, China, India and the United Arab Emirates;
no one opposed.


The proposal was put forward by the United States and Albania and called on Moscow to immediately withdraw its troops, stop the use of force against Ukraine and reverse its decision to recognize the two Donbas republics as independent states.
