You need to at least do a basic back test and work out statistical drawdown.and trading performance characteristics over different periods.

Even this one back tested is flawed due to curve fitting effects when person use too many parameters ...

That's a lousy argument. I don't think I can do a lot of things but I believe others can. But not this fake story. It's the same as somebody buys a $1 toto and win the lottery. Is it by skill or by luck?

For once, I agreed with ah butt. I believe her. But pure luck alone won’t bring her this far. She has both skills and luck. If you are a consistent profitable trader, or you have been there, done that, you won’t doubt her story.

You've misread Ah butt's comment. He said she got lucky, and that means it's mostly luck.

There's no need to bring out "losing money and not being able to..", it's just a distraction to the whole argument. 

I question technical analysis able to make huge amount of money simply because it is a fact that only institutional players move the markets. You mean to tell me that you can guess their minds right most of the time just by looking at graphs? 

You may be able to make small amounts sometimes, not the few hundred times this woman is talking about. Defintely not with $1000.

Don't underestimate compounding effect of consistently earning small profits from trades. Money can grow into substantial sum over a period of time. Are you a trader yourself?

These are my scalping trades result for the last 2 mths. My performance is worse in Apr based on total number of trades I went in. Just want to show this is what I called power of compounding effect of small trades... I’m a new trader and if I can do it, so can this lady.

2 months or  even 1 yr does not equate to consistency
Anyway it's an endless argument what is possible, what is due to skills ..what is due to luck.

The market also changes with time.

What is true is very very make money after a few years trading the market.

I dun dismiss TA. I just said that it cannot bring you huge profits (and if it does, it is just pure luck like betting big or small, nothing to do with skills), and certainly not with a measly amount like $1k. Yes, money can grow into substantial amount over a period of time, but not by trading, but by picking value stocks at low price and waiting for them to move up. If you buy and sell over a short term, you CANNOT make big money unless you have insider news, because you have a good chance of losing your trade. 

You just ask yourself this, how many times have you encountered when you thought that price is low enough and you buy it, only to find that it dropped further, then you cut loss? And after you cut loss, it went back up. If you think it only applies for newbie traders, no, it doesn't. Experienced traders encounter this all the time.
