The world’s fourth-largest steel company, Nippon Steel, announced that it would sue the U.S. government after U.S. President Joe Biden effectively “disallowed the sale” of its acquisition of U.S. Steel, saying, “It is shocking that Japan, an ally, is being treated this way.” 

Nippon Steel is also said to be considering renegotiations or a partial acquisition of the company with incoming President Donald Trump, but the outlook for either option is unclear.
