all PMETs want PAP to tighten control on high-skilled foreigners so that they do not need to compete with foreigners for high-skilled jobs.
PAP is doing the reverse to tighten the control on low-skilled foreigners and no control on high-skilled foreigners.
it means more PMETs will be unemployed if more high-skilled foreigners take up jobs.

What's so sell-out or xia suay about this?
Only in SG do people have this stupid coloured lens of viewing one's worth and value in life or society according to whether they're doing a white collar or blue collar job.
In many developed countries, being a builder building houses and property is seen as a skilled and respectable job.
SG's present housing shortage system is also majorly caused by the fact that two years of Covid screwed SG over due to its exclusive reliance on foreign cheap manual labour to build its BTO flats. Demand outstripped supply, supply got choked due to manpower shortages. If SG had more locals in the building industry, this could have very well been ameliorated.
If SG construction industry is behkan in improving its image and becoming hi-tech and professionalised to appeal to graduates, then it and SG society has only themselves to blame.
LOW SKILLED DOES NOT MEAN LOW DEPENDENCE OR IMPORTANCE. Globalisation is over. If SG does not fill its so-called "low skilled" industry jobs with more locals, the "high skilled" economy will suffer. Simple as that.

This is the problem with SG society.
Everybody want to be officer.
But nobody want to be man.
Who do the saikang on the ground? Forever outsource to foreigners? How sustainable is that?
Asking any politician to control PMET jobs from being taken up by foreign workers is missing the reality that the next industrial revolution will be coming after the PMET jobs.
In 20 years time, watch half of the PMET jobs disappear as companies increasingly automate and use AI to do them.
But by then, the low menial blue collar jobs will still exist and need doing. You cannot fully automate contructing buildings. You cannot fully automate waste disposal. You cannot fully automate cleaning. You cannot fully automate driving. You cannot (and many places already proved this is not desirable in the first place) fully automate cooking/F&B.
They're deemed "low menial blue collar jobs" because Sinkies lack the imagination and the drive to make them high skilled and respectable jobs. We think the world is such that forever there will be poorer countries than SG where their citizens will be happy to come to SG and do the jobs Sinkies don't want to do for reasons of hardship and egos.
That world is fast disappearing.
And SG society is going to get a rude awakening in the coming decades.

Quite true, our construction sector is not ready to absorb high cost of the locals..............until that is resolved, we will continue to see bangla doing low skill

CECA DP holders are once again free to search for jobs and get employed and allowing more villagers and forming their enclaves once again
just by looking at this happened days ago;

Actually I agree with this. SG is so small yet why is it we have so many universities? Boggles the mind. We're sending too many people into uni when it's increasingly diminishing returns for graduates in the job market today.
Skillsfuture is useful. But the problem is the current programmes are not properly audited. So you get a lot of mickey mouse Skillsfuture courses that don't really value add and serve only to earn the course founders money off the public and the government.
