If GY had say the same thing back in 1950s and 60s, he would have been labelled as "a Commie" or a "Chinese chauvinist" by certain groups...

This is what I have observed using I Ching wisdom.
I don’t see any big effort done so far to turn the table around. God bless Sg.

Oh - seems you have missed what George has already alluded to - SAP schools isn't just about getting "good jobs", but rather to promote good Chinese education. LKY himself had shared that Chinese educated are more disciplined than the English-educated based on what he had observed over the years.

GY is silly, expected banana people & minorities group complaining unfair to use public money for it   Rolleyes
Better to have some courses in 2nd languages inside in local U,
It will reach racial harmony and cover mouth of some banana citizens.

Anyway doubt It will stop Sg decline entirely.
As Sg not pay enough attention to build Sg core, at critical and essential fields.

Well, I know GY isn't silly enuf to run for the SG presidency.   Big Grin

Clearly, the Ex-foreign minister enjoy the relative freedom" to express his views while not under the paycheck of PAP, gov or quasi-gov institutions  after GE2011 lost.

His latest Book  "Musing" is the result of that "freedom".. in which he shared his thoughts about SG and its future. He even admit becoming "Taoist" over time when oversea...which allow him to hv different perspective watching the Little Red Dot from afar. To suggest having a SAP university is not unlike what LKY had done with starting SAP schools - just bolder than some like to accept.

It is important to note that GY is no more in PAP paycheck or even any gov. agency.  LKY is right that Chinese educated students are more disciplined than their English counterparts................and consequently the establishment of SAP schools.............. Clapping Laughing

Being an English-educated SAF scholar, groomed by PAP elites and grown up in a Catholic family, George will be the last person in anyone's mind to become a  proponent of Chinese education in higher learning...which LKY himself had systematically destroyed in the name of SG "progress"...

Society today is no longer same as NYU era, Sg small pool of pop cannot stomach another public U.

To promote discipline culture is better start young than one getting older,

Didn't know GY was one of the proponent of turning Sun Yat Sen house off Balestia road into a Nanyang Memorial hall and pushed for the resurrection of Nantah University.

...the former's minister's advocacy for conserving the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang memorial hall during an interview. According to Yeo, the memorial hall was much more than a place where Sun made friends and raised funds for his revolution in China. Instead, it showed that Singapore was able to play a part in influencing the trajectory of China's future

There was a time when the country asked ordinary men to do extraordinary things.

But now, they'll only do it for money.

Sooner or later, those who has problem accepting that SG is a Chinese-majority country will realise there are only 2 ASEAN counties with crescent moon and one of that happens to have 5 Stars just like another Chinese majority country Big Grin

Time for SG to update its sacred cow england-lang as "1st language" and relook at Chinese-language policy ?
Other Asian countries has shown they can excel and successful without depending on AMTK's mother tongue

I've never believed in this kind of ranking. IMO, Tokyo university should be number 1 in Asia. Look at the number of Nobel prize winners they have.

SG clearly believes in university rankings - this why we often hear about this MSM.

On the contrary, there is no such ranking for xxx universities having Nobel prize count since the Norwegian organsiation selection process is increasingly shown to be politically driven.
