I had position opened with DOW when tariff was just before 104%, as I posted, if both sides keep at it, one side will give in and at 104% or 125%, it is as good as decoupling, hence shipments will be stopped, as it becomes unviable anymore. So both sides can scream 300%, 400%, 500% tariffs on each other will make no diff anymore, as the supply chain would have already collapsed by 104% thereabout

I saw through his trick yesterday. You slowly thing every move and think he said is purposely to distract others from the 10% he implemented.

If he do it in a simple way and implement just the 19% against all countries .....they will simply retaliate by hitting him back with 10%.

2. Use the 300B to do tax cuts

Thjs whole thing  is NOT about any of yhe following

1. Punishing other countries for cheating america
2. Bringing manufacturing jobs back
3. Make Fed lower interest rate sl the debt js more servicabls
4. Crash stock market to buy cheap.
5. Weken US dollar etc....
6. Upend the global trading system

All the above are smokescreens.

As expected Bessant now talk de escalation with Chinabbut a few days later than I expected.

I hva already asserted in my previously and everything is unfolding as I expect:

1. Trump wants only baseline 10% tariffs on nations to generate $300B in revenues for tax cuts.

2. The reciprocal tariffs based on the crazy formula is a distraction to make countries accept the baseline without retaliation.. That is why they paused. That is why different people on Trump team gave different reasons for the tariffs.


3. China was asked not to retaliate but did not play along creating a "situation". Recall that the big plunge in market was not on 3 April after the tariffs were announced but 4 April after China retaliated and resulted in a unsustainable situation 

4. Trump essentially already got want he wanted which is the baseline and using the extra tariffs (now paused) to negotiate and try his luck on what he can squeeze out of each country. For Japan they tried to extort money for US bases which has nothing to do with trade. Some small concessions will be fine. That's why I believe they are already close to deal with India Japan and Vietnam..but don't announce because other countries will realize US just wants a few small things.

5. Because of China unexpected move, there is now possibility of real damage which they don't want. But cannot just step down and lose face. So they play a few days but know they must de escalate soon.

6. China also know all this by now. Both side will pause all tariffs above baseline (20% for China) then negotiate. China will give something small like IP protection and rare Earths. uS will give something. Everyone declare victory.

7. Trump will score big with tax cuts for incomevand corporate paid for by tariffs and walk away a Champion. But he actually taxed Americans the baseline tariffs to pay for it. Again Americans are the losers.

Every day there is noise and anxiety but watch closely everything is playing out as I predicted and expected. Many analysis out there are wrong....and misread what Trump does because they are anti or pro Trump. Trump trickery is simple once you see through the smoke and mirrors and ignore the noise.
