China does not "ban" stuff lah... since it is already the world's factory and major exporter.

Why would Beijing do things that serve no interest for itself in the long run ?

Errr.. have you notice that article is from a reporter who works for US-based CNBC?  Guess which side the story you will be reading ?

Does it not surprise you that the CNBC reporter forget to remind readers that since Taiwan province food safety regulation falls under Mainland China's law, the Chinese has the power to control decide import based on Chinese law.

This explains why China’s Customs has the authority to suspension of TW fruit and fish imports which was found to have excessive pesticide residue detected “multiple times” on products since last year, as well as on some frozen fish packages that tested positive for coronavirus in June.

US...Joe  Sick

A possible visit by number three top politician and Speaker of the US House of Representatives

Nancy Pelosi, which could have triggered a direct military conflict between China and the US, Taiwan was thrust into the spotlight.

Amid the political-military tug of war between China and the US, Taiwan was relegated to a supporting actor role.

However, since the news of Pelosi’s potential visit to Taiwan was made known two weeks ago, China’s foreign ministry has issued five stern warnings, emphasising that it was “fully prepared for any eventuality”. Its defence ministry also warned that the People’s Liberation Army would not “sit idly by”.

"... the current situation is not as tense as the three previous Taiwan Strait crises, and the biggest difference is Taiwan’s weakening role." — Lu Yeh-Chung, professor from the Department of Diplomacy at Taiwan’s National Chengchi University

The Chinese and US militaries have not been explicit about the actions that they would take, both sides are taking a hard line amid an escalating situation. Given the heightened risk of a military conflict in the Taiwan Strait, MIT political science professor Taylor Fravel has warned of a “Fourth Taiwan Strait crisis” if the situation does not let up.

Taiwan’s diminishing role
However, Lu Yeh-Chung, a professor from the Department of Diplomacy at Taiwan’s National Chengchi University, told Zaobao that the current situation is not as tense as the three previous Taiwan Strait crises, and the biggest difference is Taiwan’s weakening role.

Lu said that the 1954-1955 and 1958 Taiwan Strait crises were clearly the extension of the civil war between the Kuomintang and the Chinese Communist Party, and were military conflicts between both sides of the Taiwan Strait. Meanwhile, the US played a critical role in the 1995-1996 Taiwan Strait Crisis, which was triggered by then Taiwan president Lee Teng-hui’s visit to the US

Now Taiwanese exporters kenna played out by Pelosi's visit. Soon there will be more economic suffereing/loss of earnings. Will USA import all those products banned by China? You die your biz. Why Taiwan did not learn anything from the Hong Kong protest?

I think the DPP and the usual gangs in TW Province understand their time is running out.
As long as China is not suckered into going to WAR over another American politician "visit", the more panicky the US gov will be.
Remember just 3 years ago during the HK riot which Pelosi calls it a "Beautiful Sight", the West was talking about another "Tiananman" incident can occur..It turns out PLA played the opposite tune...By sending solders to help clean up the street left by rioters..
