Next American president should uphold Biden's pledge of military action, Matt Pottinger argues

WASHINGTON -- If former U.S. President Donald Trump is elected a second time this November, he should "indicate that he is not going to allow Beijing to wage war in the western Pacific," including invading Taiwan, said Matt Pottinger, China program chairman at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies think tank here.

Pottinger, who worked as a journalist and served as a Marine, was deputy national security adviser in the Trump administration and is known as a China hawk.
