why's the need to struggle at somethings one is not naturally good at?

why compet with ethiopians who are born distance runners? or ahtiongs who's national sports is ping pong? cannot just take them as leisure sports for fitness and fun meh?

Meaning if he has stamina, he will bring back a medal.

After this, he will need to go NS.
This will affect his performance even more.
Even for next coming ASIAN game , we should also not expect too much.

He should just do 3mths BMT and that’s it. Meaningless for him to go through full 2yrs NS if he is already training and representing SG at the highest level. Not any Mickey Mouse stage competition.

He finished last in the heats. This is about stamina or fitness. Maybe he is carrying an injury.

If he is going for top 3 finish, I’ll say power as well.

I don't want to fault his efforts, but normally swim times during training will be indicative of actual race performance. I don't understand why he is surprised. It doesn't seem like he had a slow reaction during the start or goggle problem etc
