About 4 years ago, my friend received 3 job offers related to corporate sales, which he is good at. One of the offers was from AWS. He asked for my advice on which to choose if I were him. I said exactly what happened in this news...that Amazon is the hire and fire type. Fortunately my friend didn't join AWS.

IT tech sector retrenchment is not limited to amzn. Before that we hear of so many big names, msft, meta (aka facebook), googl etc etc. It is like a tornado that sweep through the whole IT sector wave after wave. Those working in IT sector are hit hard. The retrenchment is not just limited to engineers it is across board even accounting, sales, marketing etc all in the same company are hit hard.

Not only Amazon, all American firms are like that, Facebook has retrenched people a few rounds already this year.
