At the time, the result was probably the largest armaments effort of all time. By far the most powerful economy in the world largely switched its production to weapons and military logistics. 

In the four years that followed, through the spring of 1945, the United States "lend" or "lease" arms, jeeps, trucks, airplanes, ships, and other equipment totaling nearly $50 billion at the time , according to today's value depending on the calculation method at least three trillion dollars.
