We always assume things and that's natural. You say the creator... that's an assumption. How do you know there is a creator? If you say there must be a creator because that's how things come about on Earth ... like someone created a chair, a table, then you are thinking in our own dimension.

If there is a creator, who creates the creator? How did it/she/he come about? This creator line of thinking could be wrong in the first place because you will get into an endless loop.

Maybe there is no creator?? Maybe the universe does not need a creator?

Energy could not be destroyed, but does not mean you live after you died, and that is actually alright except for those hankering for eternal life, as if there is even such a thing

When you die, you actually died and the energy left is not you, just like when water evaporates, it becomes steam and the steam mix with other steam and never become the water it once was, the water is gone forever
