In our interest n for survival's sake in this region full of predators n bullies with mad people like mud hatter or sukarnoo n other talebans in out of this tiny island wanting to swallow us once they see the opportunity.
We r in a way, no choice, beholden to cowboy as our airforce n fighting vessals, spare parts , unicorn investors etc r all from there..
China wud b a good fit but then they r agaunst forming military.alliances, ..strictly non interference in other affairs.

There isn't any combined efforts by Asean members even to improve co operation in regional economy or infrastructure projects, let alone on regional defence..

Never seen regional groupings anywhere in the world like Asean 10 members, IE so loosely gathering of leaders operating ad hoc
A good example W/O consensus and consultation is Russian invasion of Ukraine exposing Asean internal back stabbing among members.
