CNN reported on the 20th that Defense Secretary John Hegseth may soon begin to replace senior military officials, including Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Brown, the top uniformed officer, and that more than six people are expected to be affected.

The reason for this is said to be the political background of Brown and others. Before taking office, Hegseth had argued that Brown, who is black, should be replaced because of his involvement in promoting "diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI)" within the U.S. military.
