US to move second aircraft carrier to the Mediterranean as Gaza tensions grow

Israel war on Gaza updates: No deal means captives in ‘coffins’, says Hamas. Hamas’s armed wing says Premier Netanyahu’s reliance on army raids – instead of a truce deal – means more Israeli captives will “be returned to their families in coffins”.

Hamas’ brutal new tactics signal new phase in war and hostage crisis.

As the terrorists announcement that militants guarding Israeli hostages in the buildings and tunnels of Gaza had “new instructions” to kill them. As Israeli troops closed in, Hamas signaled opening of a chilling new chapter in already brutal war.

Seizing on a spasm of public outrage in Israel at PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s inability to bring home remaining hostages, Hamas released a comic book-style image of a kneeling figure threatened with a gun, followed by a video of Eden Yerushalmi, 24, a bartender at Nova music festival & one of six hostages who Israel says were shot at close range in Hamas captivity last week b4 Israeli forces could reach them.

In a cruel twist of timing – the funerals of the slain hostages had taken place on Sunday and Monday – Hamas said it would drip-feed footage of what it described as the “final messages” of the remaining five. It released a second video on Tuesday, featuring Ori Danino, a 25-year-old who was abducted from the Nova music festival on October 7. Danino had helped other festival-goers escape the horror. It was not clear when footage was filmed – nor whether it was intended that the videos would be used in this way.

Four senior intelligence officers believed involved in Oct. 7 failures recently promoted — report.

Four senior intelligence officers who are believed to have been involved in the failures that led to Hamas’s October 7 onslaught were recently promoted, Army Radio reports. The 4 lieutenant colonels, are heads of depts in IDF Southern Command’s intelligence, & part of their roles was to provide an intelligence picture of Gaza.

Army Radio says that the head of the terrorism department in the Southern Command intelligence was promoted to be the intelligence officer of the West Bank division; the head of the digital dept & the deputy to the head of the Southern Command intelligence was promoted to be a senior officer in a classified intelligence unit; the head of the targets department was promoted to head a unit in the Military Intelligence Directorate headquarters that handles terror funds; and the head of the so-called field department was promoted to a senior position in Unit 9900, the IDF’s visual intelligence unit.

Report comes days after it was revealed that the former commander of the Southern Command intelligence, who was removed from his role in March over an illicit relationship with a subordinate, was not fired from the military but instead sent to be the IDF’s representative in the National Cyber Directorate.
The IDF has not yet commented on the report.

Several of six Israeli hostages who were executed by their Hamas captors in Gaza some 10 days ago had attempted to fight off their killers, their families have reportedly been told by the Israel Defense Forces.

IDF Spokesman Daniel Hagari has briefed some of the families of the six — Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Ori Danino, Eden Yerushalmi, Almog Sarusi, Alexander Lobanov and Carmel Gat — on the difficult conditions in which they had been held and on their courage in their final moments, according to Channel 12 & Channel 13.

Hagari, who reportedly met with families over the past day or so, shared what Channel 12 news described as initial findings army’s investigation into the incident, detailing the harsh conditions in six were held, showing the families evidence from inside the tunnel where they were killed.

Two soldiers were killed and several were wounded after an Israeli Air Force helicopter crashed in the southern Gaza Strip last night, in what the military describes as an accident.

According to an initial IAF probe, a UH-60 Black Hawk from the 123rd Squadron had flown to Rafah with a Unit 669 medical team to evacuate a seriously wounded combat engineer during fighting in the area.

During the final landing stage inside an IDF encampment in Rafah at around 12:30 a.m., the helicopter impacted the ground instead of touching down correctly. According to the probe, the helicopter was not hit by enemy fire, and the crash occurred moments before the aircraft was supposed to land, meaning it did not fall from a significant height.

From Yemen launch to partial interception: IDF says 'enemies don't have a hypersonic missile'

Missile launched by Yemen was tracked by Israel's Arrow system, despite being intercepted, it was not destroyed, scattering debris in center of country; Israel considers its response denies Houthis claim it fired a hypersonic missile

A ground-to-ground missile launched by Houthis in Yemen was immediately tracked by the Arrow missile defense system’s radar.  An initial IDF investigation reveals intercept was initiated culminating in one of the interceptors striking the target, albeit without completely destroying it. This has become the focal point of the IDF's ongoing inquiry.

Iran sends ‘rescue teams, eye surgeons’ to Lebanon after Hezbollah pager blasts today,
The Iranian Red Crescent says it has dispatched “rescue teams and eye surgeons” to Lebanon to treat the wounded after yesterday’s detonation of pagers used by Hezbollah. At least nine people were killed and thousands were injured when pagers used by Hezbollah members exploded yesterday in a coordinated attack widely attributed to Israel.

Among the injured was Iran’s envoy to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, with Iranian media reporting he suffered injuries “to the hand and the face.” The New York Times reported he had lost one eye and his second was severely injured. According to the outlet, the pagers beeped for a number of seconds before exploding, meaning that users raised them toward their faces to read the message before the blasts.

  • Twin attacks: Walkie-talkies detonated in Lebanon, killing at least 20 people and wounding 450 in a fresh attack targeting Hezbollah, a day after pager blasts killed at least 12 people, including children, and injured thousands across the country.
  • New era of war: Israel, which refused to comment on the explosions, was behind the attacks, CNN has learned. Israel’s defense minister said a “new era” of war was beginning and “the center of gravity is moving north,” referencing the Lebanon border.
  • Why now? Israel launched the pager attacks after it believed the plan had been discovered by Hezbollah, according to an Israeli security source.
  • US was notified: Israel told the US of its plans for an operation in Lebanon but did not provide the details, according to three sources.

Lebanon rocked by deadly walkie-talkie and pager attacks. Cross-border attacks: Israel and Hezbollah engaged in cross-border strikes Thursday as Lebanon reels from deadly back-to-back attacks targeting the electronic devices of the Iran-backed militant group’s members that left dozens dead and thousands of people injured.

Action to continue: Israeli military action against Hezbollah will continue, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant vowed Thursday. “Our goal is to ensure the safe return of Israel’s northern communities to their homes,” he said while meeting with military commanders.

Hezbollah chief speaks: The group’s leader Hassan Nasrallah condemned the stealth attacks targeting pagers and walkie-talkies, saying Israel “crossed all the red lines” and hinting at possible retaliation. Israel has not claimed responsibility.

Tehran unveils new drone, missile, claims Israel deterred by its power.

Iran unveiled a new ballistic missile and an upgraded one-way attack drone at a military parade on Saturday, state media said, amid soaring regional tensions and allegations of arming Russia. New Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian attended the annual parade in Tehran, commemorating the 1980-88 war with Saddam Hussein’s Iraq.“ Today, our defensive and deterrent capabilities have grown so much that no demon even thinks about any aggression towards our dear Iran,” he says.

"With unity & cohesion among Islamic countrier, we can put in its place the bloodthirsty, genocidal usurper Israel, which shows no mercy to anyone, women or children, old or young.” comments come as Israel has stepped up its fight against Iran’s main proxy, the Hezbollah terror group in Lebanon.I ran stands accused by Western governments of supplying both drones and missiles to Russia for use in its war with Ukraine, a charge it has repeatedly denied. The solid-fuel Jihad missile was designed and manufactured by the aerospace arm of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards and has an operational range of 1,000 kilometers (more than 600 miles), state news agency IRNA said. The Shahed-136B drone is an upgraded version of the Shahed-136, with new features and an operational range of more than 4,000 kilometers (2,500 miles), it adds.

Israel attacks Lebanon live: Hezbollah, Israel trade new attacks. Tens of thousands of people flee southern Lebanon with little idea where to find safety as intense Israeli bombardment across Lebanon kills at least 569 people, including 50 children, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry. At least 41,467 people have been killed, 95,921 wounded in Israel’s war on Gaza. In Israel, number of those killed in Hamas-led attacks on October 7 was at least 1,139, while more than 200 people were taken captive.

Netanyahu has decided to postpone his trip to New York for UN General Assembly, will be meeting ministers & security and military establishment officials for consultations likely on how to continue the conflict in the north. One report says Israel has asked US to warn Iran not to interfere as it carries on and warned Iran to be prepared for any attacks if it does.

Israel attacks Lebanon: Israeli bombings kill more than 700 in Lebanon. Israel dismisses global calls for a ceasefire with Hezbollah and continues a bombing campaign that has killed more than 700 people in Lebanon since Monday.
The White House says the US-led international call for a ceasefire in Lebanon was “coordinated” with Israel, despite Israel rejecting the proposal.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said Washington will continue backing Israel as Tel Aviv secures a new $8.7bn US military assistance package, and dismissed “red lines” in Israel’s assaults on Gaza and Lebanon.

Israel distances itself from U.S.-French proposal to halt Hezbollah conflict. What is behind Iran's restraint?. Though it is Hezbollah's military and financial backbone, Iran has remained remarkably quiet in light of the escalation in Lebanon. What's behind Tehran's apparent restraint?
