Singapore used to have zero external debt for many many years but suddenly,  it has a debt of over 200% GDP when it becomes a financial center and need to change the accounting method. GOV explained the money deposited by foreigners in Singapore is now considered a debt of Singapore.  So how much foreigners have deposited in the US?  For example China has over 3 billions in bonds and Japan has even more.  What about those foreigners deposited GOLD reserves and buying up stocks?  What is important to compare is how much the private sectors owe the bank if one want to compare becos private sectors are the growth engines.

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projects deficits will run wild as the US national debt surpasses a staggering $141 trillion by the year 2054.
