Uni students just love free things and they have the time to queue, not necessarily because they are poor.

You have to take consideration of the situation downunder where food price went up to $16-17 per bowl of noodle and shortage of rooms for rent due to large number of international students returning to Australia and pushing up rental by 30-40%…Uni students were not interested in free food in the past but now is different, prices of  everything go up, no choice…no wonder there was such a long queue

So called “free food” is nothing special, a small sandwich and a bottle of water.
