Maybe flour up price is the reason

Because there's less demand for it so they have to make up for it (in terms of profit) by increasing prices.

Recently taken a simulated beef burger and some chicken nuggets, not sure they're considered vegetarian, prices same as those with real meat.

Yeah, I added the poh piah and get the $4 portion ... as the $3 a bit little for me
but in general vegetarian food across the island are higher ... not sure why
I order chai png, 1 rice, veggie, egg and chicken for around $4.5.
I suspect those mock meat is more expensive to prepare

I would think it is more difficult to prepare so need to charge extra for the effort.

Stop eating these vegetarian food, full of oil and flour….my brother-in-law’s dad was vegetarian for decades, had two heart bypass operations, during second operation his vein collapsed and he passed away.

Must eat green veggies and fruits instead.

I think part of the reason vegetarian food can be more expensive, especially at hawker centers, is the cost of ingredients. Fresh vegetables, tofu, and other plant-based items tend to be pricier than regular meat options. I’ve also noticed that some vegetarian dishes at hawkers use things like mock meats or other specialty ingredients, which can add up. I’ve actually tried using goat protein powder at home for my smoothies, and while it’s not exactly cheap either, it’s a great alternative to whey. It might be a similar case for vegetarian options at hawker centers – they might be using higher-quality ingredients or more niche items.
