In his Victory Plan, Zelensky believes that it is essential that the allies (i.e. the US) give the green light to attack Russian territory with Western missiles. But that alone will not change the course of the war.
He always speaks in general terms about allies , but it is Washington, after all, that has the final say.
The threat is instead from Russia attacking Western interests elsewhere — for example, by fuelling an escalation of tensions in the Middle East by arming Iran, the Houthis and other destabilising elements.
"Firstly, it appears that the Ukrainians have already used Western weapons against Russian targets in Crimea, which Putin says is Russian territory. Secondly, the Ukrainians have already previously crossed Russian red lines in their Kursk offensive. And Putin has not escalated the tension on any of these occasions," the expert told El Confidencial.
