problem is not the paper. is the people who burn it .

if burn properly, there are little smoke. but some just want to get over quick and after burning a lit start to throw large quantity in quickly. cannot burn properly so smoke the whole place. some paper will also be left unburn. like that got use meh? do properly la.

Buddhist from Thailand, Myanmar and China do not burn those papers at all. Based on Tok Tok video, it was actually a business reason to make money by the brother due to family competition.

Yeah, I noticed that too! The newer ones have a lighter, more pleasant scent compared to the older ones that were super strong. Could be better ingredients or just improved production methods. I also feel using a  traditional Chinese incense burner  helps the scent spread more evenly without making the room too smoky. Some of the modern ones don’t hold the ashes as well, so having the right burner makes a difference.

The smoke of joss stick has a calming effect. It's addictive and harmful if used often
