Vietnamese woman stabbed to death over noise dispute in Singapore
#1

A 67-year-old man was arrested for murder on Wednesday after a noise dispute turned deadly at a Yishun housing block in Singapore.

A 31-year-old Vietnamese woman was taken unconscious to hospital, where she died, police said.

Two others were taken to hospital – the suspect and a 33-year-old man.

Local residents said the couple and the suspect had been embroiled in disputes over noise for many years, with mediation attempts by local authorities failing. The couple have two children aged 3 and 5, whose jumping around seemed to have disturbed the suspect who stays in the apartment below them, according to Singapore media reports.

So good of your neighbour. My upstairs Filipino daughter is already a teenager, still jumping at the middle of the night.

Children will be children.
They jump only certain hours.
They will be sleeping at night.
Mine is horrible.

Knocking ,knocking don't know what.

Once it got so bad, I had to knock back to reply to him.

You all know there is a very low cost way to retaliate and make sure your message of noisy neighbors gets across to the culprit, right?

It is like that.

Last time, one of my immediate neighbours was also from the country. The beds operate 24 hours, 2-3 shifts. Different groups talk 24 hours a day. I'm like a piece of dead wood, get used to it.  For the wall, even the sound from the first floor can be heard upstairs.

Morning, one mother will take the ice block and chop it into pieces. Likely our weather is hot.

Then the landlord keeps getting loans from the loan sharks. All sorts of nonsense. Police will give a tour every few days.

They moved to a condo. They said it was better as they got to bathe in the swimming pool. No one bothers them.

A few years later, the loan shark succeeded in pouring paint and wrote $$P after the landlord had sold his unit.

If those people do not know how to discipline their children

HDB should NOT allow them to stay there!!

Most of these noise incidents involved foreign tenants
If this news and death cause awareness to this problem
And those foreigners think twice that lonely old Singaporeans cannot be bullied
Then the news is worth its pound of salt

Once again the PAPaya government fail to notice the uncultured behavior of the foreigners they are eagerly importing

How to avoid such neighbours? Will better flat designs help? It seems that the authorities can't do much

Condo aso hv such problems but much less. Landed hv very little. Terraces houses may hv leakage problems, others may hv maids' problems, cat problems. noise problems from dogs and chickens, overgrown trees, car parking problems, loud karaok singing once in a while, ... mostly are minor and can be solved amicably

If you want noiseless peace just sound proof your bedroom. Cost around $200 DIY and around $1800 by contractors for one normal room.     Rolleyes
