He will confirm withdraw as per his initial plan which he has already hinted to avoid further splitting the votes.

He has already mentioned in the beginning, that joining this race is part of a contingency plan to ensure citizens get to vote in the PE with a non-establishment candidate.

Once a truly independent and credible candidate like George Goh receives the certificate of eligibility, it's pointless for him to continue anymore as he receives the lowest vote share in last PE so when this time comes, it is logical for him to withdraw to provide maximum votes to George Goh.

However, if George Goh fails to be certified, then he becomes the sole non-establishment candidate to carry the torch. 
He knew that Cock Song will qualify (as Ho Ching already hinted), this is why he gets Tan Jee Say to be his proposer.

This is to provide maximum swing of votes to his side in a three corner corner fight. 

Under this scenario, it becomes TKL (with Tan Jee Say) representing the non-establishment vs Cock Song & Tharman.

It will be a tough fight for all and Tharman might even lose, LOL. It is a brilliant attempt to checkmate the PAP, whichever ways the outcome goes.

Nope. Writ is just for PM to officiate start of the PE race to tentatively set the nomination and polling date as there is more than one candidate who applied for eligibility. Actual certificate of eligibility will only be issued from now til nomination day. Like last PE, the writ was also issued but in the end right before nomination day, all other Malay candidates tio disqualified except PCB Halimah, LOL.

Correct and as mentioned, both GG and TKL will likely tio fixed and not obtain the COE before nomination day.

And as HC already hinted, in the end will be left Cock Song vs Tharman.

The assessment criteria under private sector deliberative track is highly shrouded in secrecy which only the Presidential Elections Committee (PEC) will know. 

Even when they announced the results to the public in the last PE, the PEC will not indicate the reasons behind unless the candidate reveals himself.

SINGAPORE - Madam Halimah Yacob is set to be Singapore's next President, with the first presidential election reserved for candidates from the Malay community headed for a walkover.

The 63-year-old former Speaker of Parliament was the only presidential hopeful to be issued a certificate of eligibility by the Presidential Elections Committee.

Marine services firm chairman Farid Khan, 61, and property company chief executive Salleh Marican, 67, have been informed they did not qualify to contest the election.

This means Madam Halimah will be declared the country's eighth President shortly after nominations close at noon on Wednesday.

The committee announced its decision on Monday (Sept 11), two days before Nomination Day, which falls on Sept 13.

Mr Salleh's and Mr Farid's bids had been uncertain because neither man helmed a company with $500 million in shareholder equity for the most recent three years, a condition set out in the Constitution following amendments passed last year.

This follows the Constitutional Commission's recommendation that unsuccessful applicants should not be disclosed to the public.

"Already 15 years have passed, so I don't think I can be considered establishment now.

"Furthermore, I've been quite outspoken on social media ... most people would know that I'm independent," he said.

Analysts have said Mr Tan may not automatically qualify to stand in the election this year because eligibility criteria have changed since 2011.

Private sector candidates must have served as chief executive of a company with shareholders' equity of S$500 million or more for at least three years.

NTUC Income had net assets of around S$1.17 billion in 2006, the last full year that Mr Tan served as CEO. But analysts said NTUC Income is a cooperative and not a "company" within the meaning of the relevant Article in the Constitution.

The PEC can still give its approval if it decides that Mr Tan has the experience and ability comparable to a chief executive of a company with shareholders' equity of S$500 million or more. CNA
