It means $700 for a couple to attend.
If from an average family with children and seniors to fend for, $700 gone just to be invited.
For those struggling average families, best not to invite them and make lives difficult if you intend to hold your reception at an atas venue.
Be considerate and understanding especially during this sickening Covid period.

A very close friend of mine very considerate.
He didn't invite many of us when his daughter got married at Fullerton Hotel. He didn't want us to "破费"

You go makan the food and then give an angbao which is 10% of cost.

People like to show off and hold in atas place. And they expect guests to pay for it. When invited like kenna summon or pay fine. No choice one. Any brilliant idea how to reject the invite?

Do go don't need to pay if u turn him down the moment u received it. That is what RSVP is for right?
Bet u haven't get married. The couple will find someone else to invite if you turn them down early. If u only tell them u not going on day of wedding, then you are the problem.

we are just mere colleagues not close do nt often meet
just to collect red packets to defray his marriage cost
sometimes u hv to be firm n not feel bad to reject
