It is saying there was a peace deal on the way and because of Johnson saying bad things about Putin it fail.

Even if Johnson was not there, there will be no peace deal. Remember Putin refused to meet Zelensky and the negotiation yield nothing. There zero hope of peace deal because Putin wants to take more territory as seen in the later stages of the war.
